What is a sweepstakes casino?
A promotion, not a casino. You play with two currencies: one that buys nothing and one that can be redeemed for prizes. The redeemable one can always be obtained free, which is what keeps the whole thing on the sweepstakes side of the line rather than the gambling side. It is also why no gaming regulator licenses these operators.
Are they legal in Texas?
Yes. No Texas statute authorises them and none bans them, and the next moment ordinary legislation could change that is January 2027, because the Legislature sits only in odd-numbered years. The Texas page sets out the bill numbers and the dates.
How old do I have to be?
Set by each operator, not by the state: most require 18 or over, some 21 or over. Texas sets no age for sweepstakes participation, so the number that binds you is the operator's own, and operators disagree. Read the operator's rules rather than a comparison table, including ours.
Do I have to buy anything?
No, and an operator that requires it is not running a sweepstakes. Every legitimate operator publishes a free entry route, usually a postal request, alongside a daily no-purchase claim. If you cannot find the free route in the rules, that absence is the most useful thing you will learn about that operator.
How do I turn winnings into money?
You redeem the sweeps currency, and every operator requires identity verification before the first redemption. That check sits in front of the payout, so a stated twenty-four hour payout can still be several days the first time. Redemption thresholds and methods vary and we publish neither until we have read them on the operator's own pages.
Why does your table say "not read" instead of a number?
Because nobody here has read it. The operators refuse connections from outside the United States, by country block or bot challenge, and we do not work around either. We would rather show a gap than copy a figure from another comparison site: we watched three of the largest publish game counts for one operator that differ by a factor of four.
Do you get paid for this?
